Sanlitun was completed in 2008 - If I remember well, just before the Olympic games (where was I hanging out in BJ before this shopping area was created?) The complex, consisting of 19 low rise buildings, is comprised of retail space and a hotel - the Opposite House. There are over 140 stores in the Village and around 70 in the North section. Pictures of this area and the hotel will come soon - I just acquired a new wide-angle lens (11-16mmm) so be ready for more architectural/interior/landcape pictures...
The design concept was led by the The Oval Partnership (www.ovalpartnership.com)
Architects include: The Oval Partnership (HK), Kengo Kuma (Japan), Sako (Japan), LOT-EK (USA) and SHoP (USA)
Developer and management - Swire Properties (80% for retail, 20% is Gateway China Fund) http://www.swireproperties.com ; More about Sanlitun: http://www.sanlitunvillage.com/eng
